- Appeal: Winter Gem Boxwood has deep green foliage that can be slightly yellow/green in appearance especially in its new growth. Winter Gem Boxwood is a hardy small leaved boxwood. Foliage can bronze in harsh winters but will bounce back to luscious green in spring. It is easily pruned to shape if desired but will grow to a nice natural form on its own. Winter Gem is good to use to create a short hedge and is deer resistant.
