Deep Shade Planting Strategies

Nestled in between giant oak trees in the hills of Basking Ridge, this charming Ranch was overgrown and in need of a facelift!  After a new coat of paint to simplify the house, a similar approach was applied to the foundation planting beds.  Erik included many part shade and full shade-tolerant shrubs and perennials including Raspberry Splash Lungwort, Squirt Leucothoe, Penny’s Pink Hellebore, Ghost Fern, Japanese Plum Yews, Compacta Pieris and Leatherleaf Viburnum to create a fresh and inviting view from the driveway.  This planting strategy will slowly mature and provide many years of enjoyment.
