- Appeal: The Scarlet Fire cultivar of the Kousa Dogwood is an excellent hybrid cultivar that has consistently pink to magenta colored large flower bracts that provide stunning color during its peak bloom period. It will bloom in late spring and the color becomes more vibrant magenta throughout the blooming season. The bracts have pointed tips and are generally non overlapping but still produces many flower blooms throughout the tree. The young foliage will have slightly maroon purple color and mature to green before turning red maroon color in the fall season. This tree will produce red fruits during summer. This is a disease resistant hybrid, deer resistant.
